What If Hypnosis Were Not Primarily About Words?

For many people, hypnosis is closely associated with scripts, carefully chosen suggestions and verbal techniques.

But communication happens long before — and far beyond — words.

Changes in attention, eye movement, breathing, posture, muscle tone, rhythm and subtle physical responses can all provide information about what is happening internally.

And they can also become part of the hypnotic process itself.

During this intensive two-day training, Giancarlo Russo will introduce you to the principles and practical methods of non-verbal hypnosis.

You will learn how to observe hypnotic responses more closely, establish rapport without depending on scripts and use attention, movement, rhythm, breathing and other non-verbal signals to help create and guide a hypnotic experience.

Giancarlo Russo demonstrating non-verbal hypnosis

Most importantly, you will practise.

This is not a seminar where you spend two days simply watching presentations. You will:

  • Observe live demonstrations
  • Experience the techniques yourself
  • Practise with other participants
  • Receive supervision and feedback
  • Develop your ability to recognise subtle hypnotic responses
  • Learn to bring the different elements together into a complete non-verbal induction

Hypnosis Beyond Words

Non-verbal hypnosis develops your awareness of the communication that takes place beyond spoken language.

During the training, you will explore how hypnotic interaction can involve:

  • Attention and presence
  • Eye contact and visual fixation
  • Body posture and positioning
  • Movement and micro-movements
  • Rhythm and pacing
  • Breathing patterns
  • Changes in muscle tone
  • Vocalisations and non-verbal sounds
  • Somatic responses
  • Interpersonal synchronisation
  • Subtle behavioural and physiological cues

Instead of memorising a sequence of words, you learn to observe, respond and adapt in real time.

That makes this training relevant not only to hypnotists, but also to professionals interested in communication, body language, attention and interpersonal interaction.

The Two-Day Training Programme

Day One

Foundations of Non-Verbal Hypnosis & Induction

The first day establishes the practical foundations of non-verbal hypnosis.

You will begin developing the observation, attention and communication skills required to induce hypnotic responses without depending primarily on verbal suggestions or memorised scripts.

Foundations of Non-Verbal Hypnosis

You will explore:

  • Fundamental principles of non-verbal hypnosis
  • How non-verbal communication influences interaction
  • Establishing hypnotic rapport
  • The role of the body during hypnotic induction
  • Attention, presence and observation
  • Practitioner positioning and physical communication

Core Induction Skills

You will practise working with:

  • Eye fixation and attention management
  • Practitioner posture and positioning
  • Movement and rhythm
  • Breathing
  • Vocalisations and non-verbal sounds
  • Subtle changes in participant behaviour
  • Early physiological indicators associated with trance

Practical Training

Throughout the day there will be:

  • Live demonstrations
  • Supervised partner exercises
  • Guided practical applications
  • Feedback and correction
  • Questions and group discussion

By the end of the first day, the individual components begin to form a practical framework you can actually use.

Day Two

Recognising, Deepening & Guiding Trance

On the second day, you will build on the foundations and develop greater sensitivity to hypnotic responses.

The emphasis shifts from simply initiating the process to recognising what is happening, responding to it and guiding the experience further.

Recognising Hypnotic Responses

You will develop your ability to observe changes including:

  • Eye and eyelid responses
  • Changes in breathing
  • Changes in facial expression
  • Changes in muscle tone
  • Shifts in posture and balance
  • Involuntary movements
  • Alterations in movement and responsiveness
  • Other subtle behavioural and physiological responses

You will learn not simply to look for one predefined “sign of trance,” but to observe patterns of response within the individual in front of you.

Deepening and Guiding the Experience

You will explore:

  • Deepening through body language
  • Using movement and rhythm
  • Working with breathing patterns
  • Guiding attention without scripts
  • Introduction to non-verbal suggestion
  • Responding to the participant rather than mechanically following a procedure
  • Adapting your approach as responses change

Developing Practitioner Sensitivity

Non-verbal hypnosis requires you to notice more. Exercises will focus on:

  • Peripheral awareness & tactile sensitivity
  • Awareness of micro-responses
  • Interpersonal synchronisation
  • Timing, presence and responsiveness

Bringing Everything Together

During the practical sessions, you will combine the different elements and practise complete non-verbal hypnotic inductions.

  • Supervised practice sessions & complete inductions
  • Individual feedback & technique refinement
  • Troubleshooting, questions and discussion

The goal is not simply to understand non-verbal hypnosis intellectually.

It is to experience it, practise it and begin developing the sensitivity required to use it.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this two-day intensive training, you will have explored how to:

  • Understand the operational principles behind non-verbal hypnosis
  • Establish hypnotic rapport through non-verbal communication
  • Direct and focus attention without relying exclusively on words
  • Use eye fixation as part of a hypnotic induction
  • Work with posture, positioning and movement
  • Incorporate rhythm and breathing
  • Use vocalisations and other non-verbal signals
  • Observe behavioural and physiological changes associated with trance
  • Deepen and guide hypnotic responses non-verbally
  • Respond to subtle changes in the person you are working with
  • Develop greater perceptual awareness and practitioner sensitivity
  • Combine the different components into a complete non-verbal hypnotic induction

Who Is This Training For?

This workshop is open to anyone with a genuine interest in hypnosis and non-verbal communication.

It can be particularly valuable for:

  • Hypnotists
  • Hypnotherapists
  • Coaches
  • Psychotherapists
  • Psychologists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Bodyworkers
  • Trainers
  • Communication professionals
  • Professionals working with interpersonal communication
  • People who are completely new to hypnosis

No Previous Hypnosis Experience Is Required

You do not need to be a hypnotherapist, psychologist or healthcare professional to participate.

The training starts with the essential principles and progressively develops the practical skills during the two days. Complete beginners are therefore welcome.

If you already use hypnosis professionally, non-verbal hypnosis can add another dimension to the way you observe your clients, establish rapport and recognise responses.

If you have never studied hypnosis before, the workshop provides an unusual experiential introduction in which you begin with attention, observation, communication and practice rather than memorising scripts.

Giancarlo Russo

Physiotherapist, Clinical Psychologist and Hypnotherapist

Giancarlo Russo has more than thirty years of professional experience in rehabilitation, communication and the integration of body and mind.

He graduated with honours in Physiotherapy from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Agostino Gemelli University Hospital in Rome and specialised in areas including functional and neurological rehabilitation for adults and newborns, paediatric rehabilitation and chiropractic therapy.

Throughout his professional career, he continued to broaden his work into areas including:

  • Clinical hypnosis
  • Hypnosis for pain management
  • Non-verbal hypnosis
  • Ericksonian hypnosis
  • Body language
  • Hypnotic communication
  • Mind-body interaction

For more than twenty-five years, he has studied hypnosis and altered states of consciousness, including professional training undertaken in the United States and Great Britain.

He was among the early physiotherapists in Italy to integrate hypnotic strategies into rehabilitation, particularly in the areas of pain management and functional recovery.

Alongside his clinical work, Giancarlo has built extensive experience in teaching, professional education and scientific communication.

He has delivered courses, seminars and conference presentations in Italy and internationally for healthcare professionals and has also taught at the University of Naples Federico II, contributing to the education of physicians, psychologists, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals in hypnosis and hypnotic communication.

His later training in Clinical Psychology further developed a professional approach centred on the interaction between physical, psychological and communicative processes.

Within this perspective, the body is not regarded only in terms of movement and physical function. It is also an important channel through which people express emotions, internal states and patterns of interpersonal communication.

Today, his principal areas of interest include:

  • Non-verbal communication
  • Body language
  • Clinical hypnosis
  • Non-verbal hypnosis
  • The mind-body relationship
  • Communication within therapeutic and interpersonal relationships

During this two-day workshop, Giancarlo will demonstrate the methods personally and supervise participants as they practise and refine their skills.

A Genuine Hands-On Training

You cannot learn non-verbal hypnosis simply by watching someone perform it.

And you cannot learn it by memorising a script.

It requires you to develop the ability to:

  • Observe.
  • Notice.
  • Respond.
  • Adjust.
  • Practise.

That is why a substantial part of this workshop consists of practical exercises.

You will work with other participants, observe demonstrations, practise the techniques and receive direct feedback.

Because of this highly interactive format, the number of participants will be limited.

Live In-Person Only + Full Video Recording Bonus

To preserve the deep, interactive nature of the practical work and supervision, this workshop is designed as a dedicated in-person experience:

  • No livestream.
  • No online participation.
  • Live in-person attendance is required.

However, the entire two-day training will be professionally filmed.

As an exclusive bonus, everyone who participates in the room receives complete access to the full video recordings in our online school to review, study and rewatch every demonstration whenever they want.

Important: This video recording will NOT be sold separately as a standalone product afterwards. It is strictly reserved for registered participants who attend the live training.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous experience with hypnosis?

No. The workshop has been designed so that complete beginners can participate alongside people who already have experience with hypnosis. The basic principles are introduced first and the exercises develop progressively throughout the two days.

Do I need to be a therapist or healthcare professional?

No. The training is open to anyone with a genuine interest in hypnosis and non-verbal communication. You do not need a therapeutic or medical background.

Is the training also useful for experienced hypnotherapists?

Yes. If your existing hypnosis training has primarily focused on verbal inductions, scripts and suggestion, this workshop offers a substantially different perspective. It can develop your ability to observe subtle responses, adjust your communication and work with attention, movement, rhythm and physical interaction rather than relying exclusively on words.

In which language will the training be taught?

The entire training will be taught in English. Participants need to be able to understand spoken English and follow practical instructions in English.

Is this mainly theoretical?

No. Theory is used to explain the principles behind the methods, but the central focus of the workshop is practical application. Expect live demonstrations, partner exercises, guided practice, repetition, observation and feedback.

Will I practise hypnosis myself?

Yes. Practical participation is an essential part of the training. You will work with other participants and progressively practise the techniques presented during the workshop.

Can I participate online via livestream?

No. This is exclusively an in-person training in Leuven, Belgium. Developing real non-verbal sensitivity requires physical presence, hands-on partner work and direct in-the-room supervision.

Will there be a video recording?

Yes — but exclusively for participants who attend in person. The full two-day training will be professionally filmed and made available in our online school as an exclusive bonus for all attendees. This allows you to review the demonstrations and refine your technique at your own pace afterwards. Please note: this video recording will not be sold separately as a standalone product. Attendance in person is required to receive access.

Why is the number of participants limited?

Because this is not a lecture-style seminar. Participants need sufficient time to practise and Giancarlo needs to be able to observe the exercises and provide meaningful feedback. Limiting the group helps preserve the practical character of the training.

Experience Hypnosis Beyond Words

Most people learn hypnosis by concentrating first on what to say.
This workshop invites you to pay attention to something else:

What happens before the words?

  • • The shift in attention.
  • • The eyes.
  • • The breath.
  • • The movement.
  • • The posture.
  • • The rhythm.

The responses that appear before someone ever describes what they are experiencing.

Learn to recognise those signals. Learn to interact with them.
And discover how a hypnotic experience can be created and guided through non-verbal communication.
